THE ORIGINALS
I honestly expected The
Originals to go on just like The Vampire Diaries did, but it really didn't. The
Originals have a ton of action, mystery, drama, thrillers, with a little touch
of romance. All the ingredients to make a great show! You don't even have to
worry about the pace of the show. The first episode is just slow enough to
introduce the characters and the storyline properly to new viewers who didn't
come from vampire diaries, then, after that, the story moves forward in an
amazing way.
Not to mention the directing and the cast are outstanding (I must admit, the great cast and directing also appear in TVD). Klaus portrayed by British, handsome actor Joseph Morgan, whose performances are always on point; Elijah and his great taste in suits is portrayed by a brilliant actor Daniel Gillies; Marcel Gerard by the amazing Charles Michael Davis - literally no words to describe him and the joy of his presence on the show -, and last but not least, Hayley Marshall, portrayed by the stunning, talented Australian actress Phoebe Tonkin. (Rebekah by Claire Holt, Davina by Danielle Campbell and Kol by Nathaniel Buzolic are other important characters which are really great too).
The Original is a long story, and I wish I could explain it but a thousand years is very long. I suggest you watch it and judge it by yourself. As you may have guessed, this show is of type supernatural. It has vampires, werewolves, witches, hybrids, tribrids... You get the idea. If you're usually not into that stuff, I suggest you walk right out, or you might end up wasting your time. For people who never watched this type of show, try it out, you may find out you actually like it. Fortunately, it's not just about bloodsuckers and witchcraft, it does have a great, entertaining story behind it. I personally finished the whole 4 seasons, and I'd say, season 1 is great, season 2 is good (be patient with it even though you may not like it as much as the first one), season 3 amazing, and season 4 is also great. Season 3 is by far the best in my opinion, and I'm still waiting for season 5 (which will feature an 8 year time jump). It'll air in early 2018 and sadly, it is the last season. This show is also mainly for teenagers and young adults.
What attracts me to THE
ORIGINALS so much is the art and control in which the vampires speak. As if
they were thousands of years old. Each character really sets the pace and keeps the
drama going with its never-ending twist and surprises. I don't like many shows,
but this one I love. When watching the show I relate to it by the simple fact
that family comes first. A motto that plays out throughout the show and
sometimes breaks things and fixes things, but always shows the way. Another
attraction to the show as a man is the vampires themselves. Everyone wants to
live forever, but with life comes pain. THE ORIGINALS is a complex show, NOT
just another vampire show.
Please note that The Originals is a Vampire Diaries spin-off, but they're two very different shows apart from the same supernatural world where they both take place. If you're more into cheesy teen drama and love triangles and everyone sleeping with everyone, go watch The Vampire Diaries instead. The Originals is more mature and it focuses more on the actual story than the romance.
